Proof 중학생 정도가 되었거나, 중학교를 졸업한 사람이면 한 번은 들어봄 직한 영어, 요즘은 초등학생들도 잘 알 지도 모르는 말인 Proof에 대한 얘기 되겠다. "증명하다"인 prove에서 나온 단어 아니냐고? 누가 아니래냐. 조금만 참아 보시라. 뭔가 재밌는게 나올지도 모른다. British English dictionary에서 Proof를 검색해 보면 아래와 같이 나온다. (너들 읽기 쉬우라고 색칠도 Bold도 내가 해 줬다.)
